Heartbreaking Weekend for Jolt Racing at GT Cup Silverstone 100
Jolt Racing endured a weekend of extraordinary misfortune at Silverstone on 1–2 August, as an oil-affected opening race and a mechanical failure in Sunday’s Silverstone 100 prevented the team from converting its promising pace into a representative result.
John Ingram and Rupert Williams arrived at the home of British motorsport looking to build upon Jolt Racing’s double podium at Donington Park. The fourth event of the 2026 GT Cup Championship comprised a 50-minute pit-stop race on Saturday, followed by the prestigious 100-minute contest on Sunday.
Saturday’s race was disrupted when oil was deposited on the circuit. Ingram was among the drivers caught out by the treacherous surface, with the #37 McLaren Artura GT4 sliding into the gravel and requiring recovery.
The car was returned to the pits, where the Jolt Racing crew worked quickly to check it over and prepare it to continue. The race was subsequently stopped because of the oil on the track, before being restarted once conditions were considered safe.
Although the restart gave Jolt Racing an opportunity to rejoin the action, the time lost through the gravel recovery and resulting pit stop meant the McLaren resumed effectively at the back of the field. With little opportunity to recover the lost ground, Ingram and Williams faced an almost impossible task.
Despite the setback, the pair persevered and ensured the #37 reached the chequered flag, securing fifth in GTH on a day when the final result did not reflect the car’s underlying pace or the team’s performance.
Jolt Racing regrouped overnight ahead of Sunday’s Silverstone 100, determined to put the frustration of Saturday behind it and demonstrate its potential in the weekend’s headline race.
Unfortunately, the team’s hopes were ended almost immediately by a mechanical problem. The #37 completed just one lap before being forced to retire, bringing its Silverstone challenge to a premature and deeply disappointing conclusion.
It was a particularly cruel outcome for the drivers and crew after the extensive preparation that had gone into the event. Having been denied a fair opportunity by circumstances beyond the team’s control on Saturday, Jolt Racing was then prevented from competing in Sunday’s main race by mechanical failure.
While Silverstone delivered one of the most difficult weekends of the season, the determination shown by the drivers and crew remained unwavering. The team’s focus immediately turned to identifying and resolving the mechanical issue before returning stronger at the next round.
