Jolt Racing Round Off British GT Season with Endurance Cup Podium
Jolt Racing rounded off their inaugural campaign in the British GT Championship at Donington Park last weekend, securing an Endurance Cup podium and third in the overall Endurance Cup standings.
Storm Amy made its presence known over the weekend, with blustery winds battering Donington Park during Thursday’s test, while Saturday’s morning sessions added rain to the mix, creating a challenging backdrop for the season finale.
Free practice proved eventful when Williams was caught up in an incident not of his making, sustaining damage that triggered the session’s second red flag. The Jolt Racing crew responded in tow, completing a rapid repair to return the car to the track in time for pre-qualifying.
Both drivers showed strong progress in qualifying, improving their lap times and placing the #37 McLaren Artura GT4 in P9 overall in the GT4 class and P2 in Endurance Cup for Sunday’s race.
Race day dawned grey and unpredictable, with rain still lingering in the air as Williams took the start, managing a clean getaway and holding position as he settled into his rhythm. A car off into the gravel brought out a full course yellow period early on, with Williams briefly hampered by a technical issue under the caution that was quickly resolved. The FCY period was extended while recovery vehicles cleared the stranded car, and racing resumed shortly after.
With 50 minutes remaining, Williams dived into the pits to hand over to Ingram. As Ingram settled into his pace, the weather began to worsen with rain building around the back of the circuit. Conditions deteriorated rapidly, catching out several cars. With 32 minutes to go, Ingram made the call to box for wet tyres, returning to a treacherous circuit that began drying again in the closing stages. Despite challenging grip levels, he kept the car under control and brought it home safely to the finish.
The unpredictable weather and extra pit stop made for a demanding race, but the #37 duo brought it home to claim second place in the Endurance Cup class, marking a positive conclusion to the team’s debut British GT season.
John Ingram commented, “It was a tough race to end the season. Calling the switch to wets felt like the right decision at the time with the conditions we were experiencing, but the track started to dry quite quickly afterwards. The car felt strong throughout and it was great to end with a podium result.”
Rupert Williams added, “The conditions made it tricky out there, but the team did a great job to keep everything under control. I’m pleased to finish the season with a podium and can’t thank the team and our partners enough for the support this year!”
